Tooth bed illnesses (periodontal diseases)

The tooth bed (periodontium) gives place to the teeth and at the same time it plays a role in their fixation.

It consists of four parts: gums, root membrane, root cementum, alveolar bone. Diseases affecting these parts are called tooth bed illnesses at a common term. These diseases are mostly caused by unremoved stain an inappropriate tooth-cleaning.

The most frequent tooth bed illnesses from several dyagnostised cases are the following: gingivitis, parodontitis, tooth loosening and parodontosis; or they can be complementary symptoms of other usual illnesses such as diabetes, AIDS, leukaemia.
